Cadence Specialist DJs

Cadence Specialist DJ's is the Northern Territory's premier wedding, birthday, and corporate function entertainment provider. Our Djs operate according to a single principle – we play music that our crowd knows and likes, not music that we personally know and like. Our responsibility is to make your party an awesome, fun event that you and your guests not only enjoy at the time, but that is memorable, so that you look back on and think “that was a really good party!”

Djs are not accepted into the Cadence Specialist DJ stable unless they have trained with a senior DJ in both nightclub and function environments – so when you have a Cadence Specialist DJ hosting your event, you can be confident that your DJ is highly trained and experienced in playing multiple music styles to varying crowds in various environments, and will do the best job that can possibly be done.

Our music library is carefully selected and filtered by the most experienced Djs in our organisation. A specialist in each music genre hand selects, and updates song listings monthly, meaning that your DJ will have not only the tried and true awesome songs for that genre, but also the fresh, new songs that other Djs havn't had the time or opportunity to test out. The reality is that there is far too much music in the world for a single DJ to assess and filter by themselves, which is why we spend so much time doing our homework, putting track listings together to make sure that each of our Djs is armed with the best and most party effective songs for whatever genre it is that you would like them to play – which makes the difference between one of our Djs keeping your party happening with fresh, awesome songs, or one of our competitors using your party to experiment with music that they aren't too sure about. After you've spent months planning (and thousands of dollars paying for) your party, you really don't want someone using it as a practice session.

FAQ

What is the difference between a Cadence Specialist DJ and a regular DJ?

Regular Djs wake up one day and decide to be a DJ. They rent some gear, get a booking, and if on the night they A) don't get beat up by the bride and groom (or whoever) and B) get paid, then in the morning, theyre still a DJ! Woohoo!

Cadence Specialist Djs, on the other hand, are selected and trained on venue by other experienced Djs, using music provided by those DJs. They learn from people who have spent years mastering the art of party Djing, learning how to do everything from choose the right song at the right time, to running a dancefloor that doesn't have dust and tumbleweeds blowing across it, to talking to very drunk people who are making very bad requests without offending them – which is fairly important when the very drunk person is the bride's mother.

What kind of sound equipment do you use?

We don't like to take risks with equipment, because an equipment failure can stop a party in its tracks. Our gear is industry standard Pioneer (the kind you find in the best clubs in the world), and we make sure that our equipment has built in fail safe measures. Instead of using a central amplifier (that might get a beer spilt on it, or otherwise fail), we use independently amplified speakers – so if one stops working because someone knocked it over, the other speakers will keep on going, and the party doesn't stop. Likewise, we use independent mixing units – so if a CD gets jammed or a lightning strike disables it, we can quickly and seamlessly plug in a replacement without anyone noticing.

What kind of music do you have in your collection?

We have the best, party tried and effective songs in the following genres:

60s
70s
80s
90s
Rock
Jazz
Dance
Pop
Urban
RnB
JJJ

as well as all those really good songs that really don't fit into the above categories.

Do you provide an MC service, and can we use our own MC if we like?

Yes we do, and yes you can. We can also give your MC a helping hand if they're shy and let them know what sorts of things to say and when, in case they feel a little overwhelmed.

What kinds of functions can you DJ?

You name it, we've done it. We will happily provide Djs for:

Formals
Big Fat Greek Weddings (BFGs)
Weddings
Concerts
Festivals
Corporate Events
Military Functions
Birthdays from 13ths to 90ths
Nightclubs
Pubs
Bucks/Hens Nights
Baptisms
Engagements

Do you hire professional audio equipment so that we can DJ our own functions?

Yes. We have a range of CD decks, speakers, wired and wireless microphones, stands, disco lighting, fog/smoke machines, bubble machines, strobe lights, bridal staging and dancefloors. Equipment can be interfaced with your own laptop/CD player/Karaoke machine if you would like to host your own function. A setup/packup service is also available. Hire is subject to availability.

Can we give you our own music to play?

Yes, though we will not take responsibility for a CD skipping if it is scratched, damaged, or otherwise supplied on unreliable media. While our equipment is top of the line and will read discs better than any domestic CD reader, it cannot perform magic and read a badly scratched or badly burnt disc. We much prefer that you ask for the songs that you want well in advance of the function, so that we may obtain a reliable source.

We would like to meet our DJ before the event – can that be organised?

Yes. We very much prefer you to meet your DJ well in advance of your event, so that you're comfortable with one another, and so that we can tailor your function to suit you as much as possible. Meetings can take place wherever is convenient for you (including at the venue) so as to discuss details such as DJ positioning and appropriate speaker placement. Further, our Djs have a lot of valuable experience to share, and so having a meeting with them so as to work out the proper order of ceremonies, advantages and disadvantages of having ceremonies in one sequence or another for your particular party, proper lighting/sound levels etc will help your party go as well as it possibly can.

Is there anything that we need to provide you?

Yes. Enough space to set equipment up, a single powerpoint, and enough people in a good mood to have a good party. Also, if your event includes ceremonial elements/catering, we require the contact details of your venue manager, and a timetable for your ceremony, so that we can double and triple check that we are all on the same schedule.

Im having my wedding on the beach or in a remote location – can you provide portable power or a generator?

Yes. We have portable power supplies that can be used by celebrants/speakers at remote locations. They are battery operated and do not require a generator/mains power, with the added advantage that they are dead silent and will not distract your guests with unpleasant generator noise. Hire subject to availability.

This all sounds really good – how can we confirm that you're as good as you say you are?

Easy - we let previous clients speak for us – so take a look at the list of testimonials below for someone that you know and give them a call, and judge for yourself.

Hi George,

We would just like to thankyou for being our DJ at our wedding and delivering a fantastic night. As I remember you were very down to earth and at the same time very professional.

The music was great from the pre dinner music through to the dancing, everything that we wanted you delivered and also adding your own touches to the music. We surely had the time of our lives and from what I could see so was everyone else.

I have received nothing but good feedback from my guests, friends and family members about your work and I will definatly reccomend your services to anyone that asks about you.

Thankyou again for helping with a fun and memorable night.

Manuel and Maria Siriotis
